Microsoft embarrases itself… again

So… I heard Leo play this on MacBreak Weekly and had to go look at it myself. It was worse than I imagined.

Apparently, this Microsoft retail store in California decided to mortify employees and customers alike by having a totally-super-wicked-cool flashmob do the electric slide to a Black Eyed Peas song.

Microsoft flashmob, strike 1. Black Eyed Peas, strike 2. Making it last almost 5 minutes… strike 3.

Probably the best music video I’ve seen

Not because of effects, technology, or anything crazy. I think it’s just incredibly original, well executed and a good narrative. The song is a lot of fun too. Thoroughly enjoy it. It’s Love Deluxe by Cinnamon Chasers. Directed by Saman Keshavarz.

Esquire’s Augmented Reality Issue

esquire-AR

As I was traveling over the weekend I picked up the new Esquire at the airport. I had heard about the issue’s digital interaction component earlier that day and wanted to check it out. So now that I’m home, I just finished seeing what it was all about. And it was pretty cool. The bit with RDJ is pretty funny… but what with him isn’t?

The Lexus advertisement was pretty amazing as well. It simulates the infrared camera inside the cabin monitoring the driver’s alertness. Gillian Jacobs joke bit is pretty good too, albeit an old joke. The photography with JR was really great, but using the magazine as the cursor to move back and forth between the images got to be a little obnoxious. It meant getting the magazine between you and the monitor which made it hard to view the photos fluidly.

All in all, I enjoyed the experience. Now that I’ve downloaded the software, it will be quick and easy to see what they come up with on the next one.

Filming the making of a camera

Really simple, but very cool. I love the look of the video. I love that Theo took the time to document Kiel crafting the thing from scratch. Kiel actually made it into a functional pinhole camera and took photos with it. Good stuff.
